Dr Tan is a diabetologist and endocrinologist in
private practice. He is also visiting consultant to the Diabetes Centre at
Singapore General Hospital and runs the Diabetes in Pregnancy clinic at
Thomson Medical Centre. Dr Tan graduated from the National University of
Singapore in 1987 and is a fellow with both the Royal College of Physicians
in Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine in Singapore. He was trained
locally in Singapore General, Alexandra and Tan Tock Seng Hospitals; as well
as overseas at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital in
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, under world renowned diabetologist Professor George
Alberti. Dr Kevin Tan is currently Vice-President of the Diabetic Society of
Singapore and a life-member of the Society; as well as with the Endocrine
and Metabolic Society of Singapore. In the Diabetic Society, he heads the
Education Sub-Committee and has been at the helm of the organising committee
of World Diabetes Day Singapore events for the last 5 years. He is a keen
diabetes educator and active on the lecture circuit to both professional and
public audiences locally and in the region, lecturing extensively on
diabetes, thyroid problems and other hormone issues. His interest is in
diabetes and pituitary-adrenal disorders and his research interest is in
clinical trials on diabetes.

University of Singapore in 1983 and subsequently Master of Medicine (
Internal Medicine ) in 1988: Fellow Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh
and Singapore. In addition to being a Gastroenterologist,
Visiting Consultant Paediatric Endoscopy,
his special interests include endoscopic diagnosis and
treatment of early and advanced cancers, retrograde cholagio-pancreatography
treatment of bile duct and pancreatic disorders, diagnosis and non-surgical

of Singapore in 1987. He went on to specialise in Ophthalmology, and
obtained his FRCS(Edin) in 1993, and Master of Medicine (Ophthal) NUS in
1994.He had further training in the field of oculoplasty, lacrimal and
orbital work in Salisbury and Southampton Hospitals UK, & Bascom Palmer Eye
Institute, Miami, USA. His extensive experience includes small incision
cataract surgery, LASIK, laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy, retinal
tears, glaucoma, and has keen interests in his subspecialty work such as
correction of entropion, ectropion, ptosis, lid & orbital tumour excision
and reconstruction, nasolacrimal diseases.
